ALL STATE PREPS is different because we have a proven track record of helping hundreds of athletes get exposure and putting them on big platforms to be seen. We sincerely care about our athletes, and we are honest with our opinions, and don't sell dreams.
Andrew Kern, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound offensive lineman, is set to join St. Joe's Prep High School in Philadelphia. Known for his exceptional technique and hard work, Kern has been evaluated by All State Preps several times over the past 2-3 years at various camps, and his potential is evident.
Kern is a versatile player, having learned all positions on the line and excelling in long snapping. His favorite positions, however, are offensive tackle and defensive end due to the high-level technique and physicality they require. "Over the last few years, I've learned all the positions on the line and how to snap long. My favorite positions are offensive tackle and defensive end because of the high-level technique and physicality it requires," Kern shares.
Football runs deep in Kern's family. His great-grandfather played at Bucknell and was drafted into the NFL in the 1940s but chose to work as an engineer due to the low pay in professional football. His father also played in high school and at a Division III college.
"My great-grandfather played at Bucknell and was drafted into the NFL in the 1940s, but the pay was low back then, and he decided to work as an engineer. My father played in high school and Division III college. I've always wanted to play and hope to take my dad and great grandfather's dreams to the next level," Kern explains.
Kern looks up to many coaches who have guided him, including Coach Sugden, Coach Kekoanui, Coach Leisey, Coach Reagan, and Coach Worthington. He also admires gym mentors such as Des Holmes, Darold Dengohe, and Omillio Agard, along with his teammates and the guys from Under Armour Next. "I look up to the many coaches who have guided me this far, including Coach Sugden, Coach Kekoanui, Coach Leisey, Coach Reagan, and Coach Worthington. I've spent a lot of time in the gym and look up to the guys there, especially Des Holmes, Darold Dengohe, and Omillio Agard. I've learned a ton from my teammates and the guys from UA Next. They've all contributed to making me a better player," he says.
As he embarks on his freshman season, Kern's primary goals are to learn as much as possible from his teammates and coaches and grow as a player and teammate. "My main goals are to learn as much as possible from my teammates and coaches and grow as a player and teammate myself," he states. Balancing academics and athletics is crucial, and Kern plans to stay focused on his academics, multitask, and stay organized with guidance from coaches and teammates. "During my freshman season, I plan to stay focused on my academics, learn to multitask and stay organized. Since St. Joe's Prep has demanding academic standards, I'm grateful to have guidance from coaches and teammates to succeed in the classroom," Kern notes.
Kern's most vital skills include technique, speed, agility, footwork, and versatility on the field. However, he aims to improve his vocal leadership, add muscle weight through lifting, and perfect his lineman skills and speed.
"My strongest areas in the field are my technique, speed, agility, footwork, and versatility. This year, I want to work on being a more vocal leader, adding good weight with muscle through lifting, and always working to perfect lineman skills and speed," he mentions.
Kern recalls a significant challenge he faced when he moved to a new club team in 7th grade due to a coaching change. Playing up an age group and missing his school friends and his dad as his coach was tough, but it ultimately helped him grow as an athlete.
"Going into my 7th grade year, there was a coaching change at my program, and my parents decided to move me to another club. That season, I also played up an age group. I missed playing with my school friends and having my dad coach me. I was the youngest player; walking onto a new team was hard. In the end, it was the best decision for me. I grew so much as an athlete and challenged myself. I met so many great players and made friends that I remain close with and am playing with some at St. Joe's Prep," Kern reflects.
Looking forward to his high school football career, Kern is excited to play with elite talent and push each other daily while learning from some of the best coaches in the area with proven success.
"I'm excited to play with such elite talent where we can improve and push each other daily. I'm also looking forward to learning from the best coaches in the area who have proven success."
All State Preps looks forward to keeping tabs on Andrew throughout his high school football career.
