Jerome Larue Jr., a standout running back from Pennsylvania's Class of 2028, is gearing up for an exciting freshman season at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg. At 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, Larue is already making waves with his impressive athletic abilities and determination.
Recently, Larue showcased his speed and agility at a Virginia Tech camp, recording official times of 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash and 4.40 seconds in the shuttle run. The camp's coaches verified these impressive metrics, which highlight his potential as a dynamic and versatile player on the field.
When asked about his passion for football, Larue reflected on his early inspiration, saying, "The thing that inspired me to play football was watching my father play. From that day on, I couldn't keep a football out of my hand." This deep-rooted connection to the game, combined with his admiration for professional running back Saquon Barkley (currently playing in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles), drives Larue to excel both on and off the field.
Larue's primary goals are evident as he embarks on his high school football career. "My main goals for my freshman season are to be mentally and physically prepared for when my name is called and to help lead my team back to the state championship," he shared.
Balancing academics and athletics is a crucial aspect of Larue's approach to his high school career. "I prepare to balance academics and athletics by making time for the important things and sticking to my schedule," Larue explained. This disciplined approach is expected to help him effectively manage the demands of his academic and athletic responsibilities during his freshman year at Bishop McDevitt.
Larue's strongest attributes are speed, elusiveness, and heart on the field. He acknowledges areas for improvement, stating, "I think my route running as a wide receiver is where I need to improve the most."
Looking ahead, Larue is eager to showcase his talents in front of major college coaches and compete alongside top athletes.
"I'm most looking forward to playing in front of major college coaches and sharing the field with other top athletes."
All State Preps will keep tabs on Jerome LaRue Jr. this upcoming season.
