Kobe Towns: The Rising Quarterback Star Ready for His Final Middle School Season

July 23, 20243 min read

All State Preps Youth Football Report recently had the opportunity to speak with one of the top 8th-grade quarterbacks in the country, Pennsylvania native Kobe Towns. Standing at an impressive 6-foot-1 and weighing 182 pounds, Towns has shown tremendous improvement since he first caught our eye a couple of years ago. As he gears up for his final season at the youth level, Towns shared his thoughts on the game, his goals, and what drives him to succeed.

Position and Passion

When asked about his position, Towns was quick to express his love for playing Quarterback. "I enjoy spreading the ball around to my teammates and then watching them make plays," he said. His enthusiasm for the game is evident, and it's clear that he relishes the role of orchestrating the offense and supporting his team.

Setting Personal Goals

For the upcoming season, Towns has set specific personal goals. "I want to get more reps and improve my leadership qualities," he shared. Towns says he's committed to continuously improving as a player and as a leader.

The Joy of Football

Towns listed several aspects of football that he enjoys the most. "Competing against great players, getting physical without getting in trouble, and building together as a team," he said. Those things have ruled his passion to be the best player he can be.

Growth and Development

Reflecting on his progress since last year, Towns identified key areas of improvement. "I've worked on my mechanics, become more vocal, and gotten bigger," he noted. Towns has been dedicated to continuing to hone both his skill and physical development throughout the off-season.

Off-Season Camps and Favorites

Towns has been busy during the off-season, attending several camps to sharpen his skills. "I attended Elite 11, The Show, and QB Takeover. 'The Show' was my favorite camp because I was able to compete against older, faster, and stronger kids," he explained. The experience of competing against tougher opponents has clearly helped him see how he measures up against great competition.

Game Preparation

Preparation is key for Towns, both mentally and physically. "I prepare for a game by listening to music, stretching, and following my pre-game routine. I always prepare for my opponent," he shared

Inspiration from the Pros

When it comes to professional players, Towns looks up to Patrick Mahomes (current NFL team Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback). "He's my favorite because he plays outside the box and is a great leader," Towns said. Mahomes' creativity and leadership qualities resonate with Towns, inspiring him to emulate those traits on the field.

Key Skills in Football

Towns believes that the mental game and being physical are the most important skills in football. "I'm working on these aspects continuously," he emphasized. .

Memorable Achievements

One of Towns' most memorable moments in his football career so far was being named the starting quarterback for the Pennsylvania Quakers and leading a game-winning drive. "That moment was incredible," he recalled.

Handling Adversity

Towns adopts a "next play" mentality when dealing with mistakes or setbacks during a game. "I think about what I did wrong and do my best not to make the same mistake," he explained.

Looking Forward

As he prepares for his final season of middle school football, Towns is determined to make it a memorable one. "This is my last year playing middle school football, and I want it to be a great season," he said.

Towns has earned every bit of praise he's received within the past year due to his performance both on the field, at camps, and at 7v7's. All State Preps will be keeping our yes on him this upcoming season.

From The Coach

"I have been covering high school football and college football recruiting in the state of Pennsylvania and beyond for the past 17 years. My home base is in Pennsylvania, but I have traveled up and down the east coast to watch prospects. I played Division II football at Millersville University in Pennsylvania in the mid-to-late 1990's. I was one of the first people to use the internet to help athletes get exposure via articles and video."
