Class of 2029 QB Kobe Towns Recaps Boston College Gameday Experience

September 25, 20242 min read

Kobe Towns, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback out of Pennsylvania, continues to make a name for himself as a Class of 2029 prospect, with his talents recognised inside and outside the Keystone State. On September 21st, 2024, Towns had the opportunity to visit Boston College for their matchup against Michigan State. Despite arriving later than expected due to playing in a game at MetLife Stadium earlier in the day, the young quarterback still took away plenty from the visit.

Upon arriving, Towns was greeted by a warm and welcoming coaching staff. Though his late arrival limited his time to explore facilities like the locker room, weight room, and training areas, his brief interactions with the staff stood out. "The staff was very nice," he shared, reflecting on his time at Boston College.

One of the most surprising aspects of the visit was seeing the stadium in person. As an older stadium, it reminded him of the University of Pennsylvania's field, where he had previously played.

A particular highlight was the pre-game traditions, notably the fans' chant of an Irish song. "They chanted this Irish song; all the fans knew it," he recalled.

From a football perspective, Towns paid close attention to both teams' offensive strategies. While Boston College's quarterback relied heavily on his legs, the Michigan State quarterback employed a playing style more in tune with Towns' strengths. "The Boston College quarterback ran more than he threw, but the Michigan State quarterback played more of my style," he noted, providing insight into his vision for his future fit in a college offense.

The game was closely contested, with Boston College winning a surprising victory against Michigan State. "MSU gave up the game. They should've won, but BC found a way to finish it. It was a good game," Towns said.

Despite the excitement on the field, there was a missed opportunity in post-game interactions. Due to strict security measures, Towns didn't get a chance to speak with any current players, a common aspect of the recruiting process that often provides invaluable insight. "I didn't get a chance to talk to any players; security was not having it," he said.

While the experience at Boston College was largely positive, Towns has not scheduled any other gameday visits for the rest of September. His focus now turns to finishing his last season of youth football on a high note.
